Owen/Ashley Take the Reins of Seward Tennis

The Seward County Tennis program will again have new direction in 2015 as Oklahoma natives Greg Owen and Chase Ashley will take over as the Saints and Lady Saints new Head and Assistant Coaches.

Owen will be the Head Coach of the Saints and Lady Saints programs this year after a successful six year stint at Midlothian High School in Texas.  While at Midlothian, Owen coached a number of players who moved on and played at the collegiate level.  Before guiding Midlothian High, Owen was a star player at both the NJCAA level and at the NCAA level. He played his freshman season at Seminole State, garnering a top 50 national ranking for the Trojans.  One year later he transferred to Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he played for the nationally ranked Savage Storm. He finished his collegiate career and received his Bachelor of Science in Health & Physical Education. He is married to Carisa and they have 3 children, Anna (6), Claire (4), & Joey (1). In his free time he enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is originally from Henryetta, Oklahoma.

Ashley will work alongside Owen with both programs as the Saints and Lady Saints new Assistant Coach.  Ashley comes to the Seward County program after a successful five year stint (one year as the Men's Assistant and four years as the Head Women's Tennis Coach) at Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  While at Union, Ashley significantly improved the Lady Redskins program into a top five team in the state. Through the years, Ashley has had the privilege to work with many athletes that have had great success at the high school and college level.  Before guiding Union High, Ashley began his coaching career at Tahlequah High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma while going to college and received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Education from Northeastern State University.   In his free time he enjoys going to sporting events and spending time with family and friends. He is originally from Henryetta, Oklahoma where he was an all-state athlete in tennis.

Owen and Ashley will inherit a Seward Tennis program at its historical prime after both the Saints and Lady Saints teams posted all-time best finishes at the NJCAA National Tournament last Spring.  Seward is scheduled to kick off its 2015 Fall season on September 11th and 12th when they travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma for the Oklahoma Baptist Tournament.
