The Saints made a late surge but falls short 81-73 to the Beavers

LIBERAL, Kan. -Seward County Community College falls 89-73 at Pratt Community College on Monday night. The Saints led for the majority of the first half but the Beavers went into halftime with a 37-35 lead and outscored Seward County 44-38 in the second half. The Saints will look to snap their four-game losing streak on Wednesday, January 19th as they face Butler Community College in the Greenhouse at 8 PM. 

Seward County came out and led Pratt 17-11 with 12:29 left in the first half. Pratt went on a 15-4 run to take a 26-21 lead over Seward County. The Saints quickly responded after a timeout by Head Coach Rylee Hernandez to regain the lead 29-28 with a Wilson Dubinsky three with 5:06 on the clock. Both teams traded baskets in the final minutes as Seward County went into the locker room down 37-35.

To start the second half, the Beavers went on an 11-0 run to expand their lead to 48-35 over the Saints. Harvin Ibarguen made the first basket of the second half for Seward County on a put-back dunk as the Saints looked to rally down 48-37. Seward County made it a one-point game 53-52 with 11:11 left in the contest after a Taye Donald floater in the lane.

Seward County could not take the lead late against Pratt as the Beavers took their largest lead of the game 76-61 with 2:58 left on the clock. They fought until the final buzzer but lost 71-81 to the Beavers in Pratt, Kansas.

The Saints were led by Wilson Dubinsky with 19 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Branton "Bee" McCrary had 14 points, Taye Donald added 11 points, and Harvin Ibarguen had 10 points with eight rebounds.

Seward County will host the Butler Grizzlies in the Greenhouse on Wednesday, January 19th at 8 PM.
