Preview: Saints host Allen in only December home game

LIBERAL, Kan. – The Seward County men's basketball team returns to the Greenhouse to play their only December home game at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday when they host the Allen Red Devils.

The Saints (7-4, 3-4) came up just short of an upset in Coffeyville on Saturday, falling to the No. 14 Red Ravens 64-67.  The teams had nearly identical stats, but an 11-point halftime lead for Coffeyville was too much for Seward to overcome.

Ke'Sean Davis led the Saints in the game, coming away with his first career double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Devin Bethely came off the bench for an additional 16 points on 6 of 9 shooting.

Davis has reached double-figures in three straight games, averaging 17.3 points/game over that span.  On the season, Davis leads the Saints in scoring, averaging 13.1 points/game while shooting 42.5 percent from the field.  Isiah Small and Bethely join Davis in double-digit scoring, as Small averages 12.5 points/game and Bethely averages 10.1 points/game.

Allen (4-7, 2-5) lost their last game on Saturday to Cowley, 54-63.  The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Red Devils. On the season, they're 1-2 in road games, defeating Barton and losing to Neosho County and Garden City.

The Red Devils bread and butter is offense, shooting 42.2 percent from the floor and averaging 76.3 points per game.  However, they allow their opponents to score 81.1 points per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the field.

Allen is led by Tyler Williams, who averages 13.2 points/game on 54 percent shooting. Joining Williams in double-figure scoring is Darius Love (11.6 ppg) and Perry Carroll (10.7 ppg).

The Red Devils and Saints split their series from a year ago, with each team winning at home. Seward has won 8 of the last 10 games against Allen. The Saints control the all-time series 9-8.
