Seward's Slow Start Continues Against Midland

The slow start to the Seward County Saints 2014-2015 continued Saturday afternoon in Midland, Texas as the Saints dropped their fourth straight contest to begin the season 78-67 to Midland to fall to 0-4 on the year.

The Saints fell behind early against Midland as the Chaparrals had their way on the offensive end and Seward struggled to get a flow going on their end of the floor.  The Chaps connected on 47% from the field in the first half while Seward shot just 34% from the field.

Seward cut into the Midland lead as the second half got underway, but the Saints remained down by double digits midway through the half at 54-43.  Midland built their lead back to 13 by the 3:00 mark and Seward was never able to recover as the Chaps went on to win 78-67.

While improving their offensive production to 41% shooting in the second half, the Saints still finished the game shooting just 38% from the field, their fourth straight game to shoot under 40% to start the season.  Individually Kevin Sims and Tyreke Sharp led Seward with 16 and 13 points respectively while three other Saints had 9 points including Tykwan Garner who had 9 points and 7 rebounds before fouling out.

Seward drops to 0-4 on the year while Midland improves to 4-1.

The Saints return home this weekend to participate in the Billy's/Days Inn Classic in the Greenhouse where they will take on Clarendon and Frank Phillips on Friday and Saturday at 8:00.
