Seward County Adds Three Coaches to Staff

LIBERAL, Kan. - The Seward County Athletic Department has announced the hiring of three coaches to the coaching staff.  Lachmond Bratton will be joining the tennis program as Assistant Coach, Chad Butler will be leading the SCCC Spirit Squad as Head Coach, and Parker Thompson will become the new Assistant Coach for volleyball.

Lachmond comes from Toledo, Ohio where he was a teaching tennis professional, certified through the Professional Tennis Registry. He worked in Toledo for the past three and a half years for two different outdoor tennis facilities and an indoor tennis club.  Lachmond spent two years helping re-build a high school boys tennis program at Maumee Valley Country Day High School and led the girls program at Sylvania Southview High School with back-to-back years of advancing deep into the Division 1 District Championships.

In his first year coaching as an assistant at Springfield High School in Ohio, he helped guide his No. 1 singles player to the District Final as a freshman. Lachmond was a former collegiate tennis player for two years at Defiance College. His sophomore year he went 18-4 in doubles, the best single-season doubles record since 2007. 

Butler comes to Seward from Young Harris College in Georgia, where he was the Assistant Cheerleading Coach, helping the Mountain Lions to a second place finish at the NCA College Nationals.  He cheered at Shorter University in Georgia where he helped his team place in the Top 3 at the NCA College Nationals in each of his four years.  Butler has competed at the Cheerleading World Championships five times, placing in the top eight each time.

Thompson joins Seward after spending the past two and half years working with Penn State women's volleyball as a practice player and a traveling manager.  He spent the 2015 season on the Penn State Varsity men's volleyball team as a libero and was a national semi-finalist. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Thompson grew up in Auburn, Alabama, and moved to Pennsylvania his freshmen year of high-school, where he began playing volleyball. Parker was named a Pennsylvania District 6 All-Star, as well as the State High Legacy Award winner and Team Captain.
